Diet-friendly carbonara spaghetti
Fewer calories and still incredibly delicious!

Spaghetti carbonara is sacred to Italians, so they probably wouldn’t like this recipe. But the original version is too high in calories, and if you’re on a low-fat diet, it probably won’t fit in. I left out the bacon and used high-protein ham instead. I chose low-fat cream instead of heavy cream. I saved a few calories, but I recommend this recipe for your workout days. Forget the powdered bases, try this!

Diet tip
Carbonara spaghetti is much tastier and creamier when made with cream that has a fat content of 30%. However, this is very high in calories. If you want to reduce the calorie content, use cooking cream with a fat content of 22% instead.
If you look at the calorie content of one serving, you will see that it is still very high compared to fitness foods. Unfortunately, I couldn’t reduce it any further. I recommend it for days when you are working out, when your calorie burn is higher.

Diet-friendly carbonara spaghetti
Ingredients
- 150 g ham (choose ham with at least 85% meat content)
- 300 ml cream (22% fat content)
- 2 egg yolk
- 1 small onion
- 4 clove garlic
- 1 bunch fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- sat
- ground black pepper
- 180 g durum spaghetti pasta
Instructions
- Dice the ham. Peel and finely dice the onion. Wash and finely chop the parsley. Peel and crush the garlic with a garlic press. Place all of these ingredients near the stove so that they are close at hand and ready to be added to the pan.
- Put the egg yolks in a mixing bowl and pour in the cream. Add about a teaspoon of salt and sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly and set aside.
- Take a deep sauté frying pan and pour in some olive oil. Add the onion and fry until golden brown. Add the ham and fry together with the onion. Add the parsley and half of the garlic. Stir and heat through. Then lower the heat. Pour in the cream mixture over medium heat. Stir immediately, making sure that the egg yolks do not curdle.
- Stir until it thickens. Add the remaining garlic. When it is thick enough, it is ready.
- Cook durum spaghetti in salted water.
