Homemade iced tea with honey

A healthy drink for warm days
Homemade iced tea with honey

People often ask me what they should drink in summer. They are looking for a healthy soft drink that is also diet-friendly. My answer is WATER. Maybe lemon water or a sugar-free lemonade. I recommend water because it has no calories. Whatever you want to replace it with, you have to count the calories. If you don’t count calories, then a soft drink sweetened with honey or xylitol is also a good choice. I know it seems very simple to make lemon tea and chill it, but many people don’t think of this when asked what to drink in the summer. You don’t have to buy tea from the store. You can make delicious and healthy soft drinks at home. In this post, I’ll give you tips and advice on how to make iced tea.

Why do I sweeten with honey?

Honey is often used as a natural sweetener instead of sugar, and it has been part of traditional diets for centuries.

In the summer, I especially enjoy incorporating acacia honey into my daily routine. I personally like to use it in moderation as part of a balanced diet.

Honey has a rich flavor profile and is valued in many cultures for its versatility in both sweet and savory recipes.

I also find it particularly enjoyable during seasonal transitions, for example when the weather starts to change.

What should you pay attention to?

Black tea contains caffeine – keep this in mind when consuming it! So don’t drink it in the evening. I would recommend this iced tea for a mid-morning or afternoon snack. Not only does it contain caffeine, but the honey also gives you an energy boost. This is great before a workout.

This recipe serves 4 people. I calculated 1 liter of water, so each person gets about 250 ml of lemon tea.

Homemade iced tea recipes

You can make any tea cold, according to your taste and preference. I really liked the following combinations:

  • Cold mint tea – with fresh mint leaves
  • Orange rooibos tea with milk – i.e. iced milk tea
  • Teekanne ginger and mango tea served ice cold – I especially love the ginger flavor in summer

Below is one of my favorite recipes. You may prefer different proportions. Feel free to experiment with different sweeteners or teas.
